Overview:

    With the rampant increase in the inflow of tourist in various popular destinations of West Bengal, very few places have remained where you can actually go and spend some time in peace and enjoy the quietude of the lower Northern Himalayas which it was originally famous for. Thus came the idea of forming this less treaded trek route.

This newly discovered foothill trek on Himalayan mountain ranges will take you close to North Bengal hills and their natives. This 5Days and 4Night trek will give you a chance to interact closely with nature and a unique opportunity to stay with natives in their home through your entire trek. The organic food and the rare culinary skills of our hosts will definitely give your tongue a new cuisine to follow.

The trek is easy and refreshing at the same time, during the hike, one would tread through forests intermittent with the sound of birds and the buzzing of bees and the and the mountain aura that never leaves your side throughout the trek.


Day 1: Lingsey

Distance: 104 Km from Siliguri

Time taken: 4 hours by car (Transportation not included)

Altitude: 4800 Ft

Welcome to peaceful Lingsey surrounded by mountains. This beautiful homestay surrounded by orchids and fauna of varied characteristic will definitely take a toll against the hectic journey and disquiet city life.

Activities: 

  • Have a home-cooked lunch made with fresh and organic ingredients imbibed with the amazing culinary skills of the host
  • Explore local attractions such as
    • Hareshwar Shivalaya Mandir & Sanskrit Vidyalaya,
    • Pellembo Lepcha Monastery
    • Traditional Lepcha House
    • Dhoksing Falls
  • Return to the homestay, have tea and snacks in the evening with our host who always has lots to share about his experience of the trek and many more.
  • Bonfire depending on the season and as per request

Day2: Trek from Lingsey to Jushing

Distance: 3 Km (Uphill Trek)

Altitude: 5400 ft.

Time taken: 1.5 hours

By now your eye will adjust to the lush green surrounding, ears in keen interest trying to distinguish the sounds of a variety of birds chipping around and the best part –the intoxicating woodsy pine cold air through your nostril will fill your soul with peace.

Activities:

  • Post breakfast, gear up for the trek amongst the shadow of mountains exploring the jungle trails, a rustic old bridge over the river and local people. During the entire trek fell free to stop and admire anywhere you like, interact with local, check for various plantation around.
  • Reach Jushing at around 1 pm in the afternoon, freshen up and have a sumptuous meal and take rest for a while.
  • Explore the valley and area encompassing the homestay as you are going to stay in a beautiful house surrounded by picturesque farming land overlooked by these series of gigantic mountains around.
  • Have evening tea with your host and family and ask our host to show the various flora and fauna he has planted around. He possesses a vast knowledge that promotes ecological balance and conserves biodiversity while farming.
  • Have dinner and retire early for the night.

Day3: Trek from Jhusing to Pithamchin

Distance:4 Km (Uphill trek)

Time taken: Around 3 Hours

By now your eye will adjust to the lush green surrounding, ears in keen interest trying to distinguish the sounds of a variety of birds chipping around and the best part –the intoxicating woodsy pine cold air through your nostril will fill your soul with peace.

Activities:

  • Get up early, have tea and set out for SERVANG falls downhill if time permits.
  • Post breakfast, gear up for the trek for our next destination.
  • Reach Pithamchin at late afternoon, freshen up and have a sumptuous meal and take rest for a while.
  • Explore the village and the nearby Choekhorling monastery while strolling in the evening.
  • Head back to your homestay. Do enjoy the evening with our lovely host over evening tea.
  • Have homecooked dinner and retire early for the night.


Day 4: Trek from Pithamchin to Mulkharkha

Distance: 4.5 Km uphill

Altitude: 7500 Feet

Time taken: 4 Hours

Activities:

  • Wake early next morning have tea, get out for a warm-up 1 hr trek towards Mankhim in East Sikkim district nearby. You will visit
    • Arial view of Lampokhari Lake
    • Aritar Gumpa monastery rich in traditional Buddhist art and literature. Offers a vantage point for the panoramic view of the lush green mountains
    • A hilltop Mankhim Temple offers tranquil surroundings, besides its religious significance. 
  • Hike back to the homestay, have breakfast and get ready for your next big adventure. •
  • Start your trek early for Mulkharkha village, trek through the muddy rustic jungle path and enjoy an abundance of a varied variety of flora and birds on your way to Mulkharkha.
  • Reach Mulkharkha around noon time, have lunch and rest for a while in Mulkharkha homestay.
  • Explore the beautiful serene village while strolling in the evening.
  • Bonfire depending on the season and as per request at night. • Home cooked meal for dinner.

Day 5: Mulkarkha


  • Get up really early, have tea and set out for The Holy Mulkharka Pokhri (Lake) also locally famous as Manokamana Lake.
  • With the first light of the sun, experience the mesmerizing reflection of Mount Kanchenjunga at the Holy Mulkarkha lake. 
  • Hike back to the village, have your breakfast and gear up for your onward journey.
  • We bid our goodbyes now.

  • Experience four authentic homestays and a chance to give your tongue a new twist with culinary skills of our hosts along the stays.
  • You will come across Servang Falls, Dhoksing Falls to give your trip a taste of adventure.
  • A complete 4 days’ easy level up trek through the clean and lucid livelihood of our hilly folks.
  • Visit Choekhorling monastery.
  • Mankhim Viewpoint.
  • Beat holy Mulkharkha phokri(Lake) to experience the divine nature at its best.
  • Enjoy the scenic beauty of Mt. Kanchenjunga from the homestays.
