     The northern Himalayan range and number villages that are situated in its lap are still untouched and less explored as compared to other popular destinations. But this is exactly where the beauty of these untouched hamlets lies, away from the rush of generic tourist destinations and the hustle and bustle of popular mountain villages. Located at the foothills of “Old Silk Route” near Pedong, Saureni Kagey is exactly the same, still untouched and has retained its sereneness. It is a picturesque quant little village, quite unexplored and visited only by limited no. of ecologically aware tourists who believe in a sustainable way of tourism.

The Locale:

     SaureniKagey is 21 km from Kalimpong and 15 km from Pedong, it is well connected by roads and is accessible throughout the year, numerous trek routes lead to this village as well.Being one of the most enchanting valleys in the Kalimpong district yet isolated from the tourist rush as of now. It offers some awesome panoramic views along with tones of nature walks/hikes in the dense orchards and forests all along the valley.

The Abode:

     Concealed within awe aspiring serenity and away from the hustling verve of Kalimpong’s other tourist heavy village is this paradise like abode waiting to be explored. Run by a Fredrick Rai, a local and a self taught Horticulturist, this Retreat is a bibliophile’s dream come true. Ideal places to cozy up read a book and enjoy the absolute tranquillity of the mountains. You will wish to never leave this little haven. The property is surrounded by lush green trees and offers magnificent views of the mighty Kanchenjunga and the adjoining mountains.

     The farm is surrounded by vegetable patches, trees and flora of varied characteristics but the owner is especially famous among the locals for his enthusiasm of growing rare species of orchids and medicinal plants. Having encyclopaedic knowledge about horticulture, the friendly owner is always ready to share his knowledge amongst the visiting tourists.

     Considerably a working farm you can always participate in the farms day to day activities which includes maintenance of the vegetable patches and plants, catering to the farm animals, cooking etc or just sit back, relax and enjoy the view.
